AED Grants

Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere. Quick access to a defibrillator can make all the difference in saving a life. Our mission is to equip communities with the tools they need to respond effectively in emergencies. We believe in the power of community and the importance of safety. That's why we are giving deserving community groups and charities the chance to apply for a free life-saving AED (Automated External Defibrillator).

The selected group will receive a top-of-the-line defibrillator at no cost. We also offer training sessions to ensure that your group is well-prepared to use the defibrillator in case of an emergency.

How to Nominate:

Applications must be made electronically via the form below.

  1. Share why the nominated group deserves to receive a free defibrillator.

  2. Provide information about the group's community impact and activities.

Note: While not mandatory, preference will be given to applicants who can place the AED externally so that in addition to the defibrillator being accessible by the members and visitors of the recipient’s organisation, it can also be accessed by the general public.

Obligations of recipients

  • Maintenance Responsibilities. The grant recipient organisation takes responsibility for the consumables and maintenance costs of the defibrillator. If the defibrillator is used on a casualty, St John will cover the replacement costs of the pads. However, it is the obligation of the grant recipient organisation to pay for the ongoing expenses to maintain the defibrillator. This would include ensuring any defibrillator pads and/or battery are replaced at the date of expiry.
  • No on-selling permitted. The grant recipient organisation must not under any circumstances on-sell the defibrillator or any of the associated components to any third parties at any stage.
  • Collection of the Defibrillator. Grant recipients are required to arrange collection of the defibrillator from St John Ambulance Tasmania’s office or another designated location at a time agreed upon with St John Ambulance Tasmania, ensuring it aligns with our operational schedule.
  • Media and Promotion. By accepting the grant, recipients agree to participate in any reasonable promotional activities, such as media interviews, social media content, or providing testimonials to promote the program. Recipients may also be asked to acknowledge St John Ambulance in any relevant publications or communications.
