Our Courses

All St John Ambulance Tasmania courses are delivered across the state and can be delivered at one of our public training venues in Hobart, Launceston, Devonport or Burnie, or at a site elected by you for group bookings.

Please note: Participants who are 14–16 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the class.

A superior and immersive training experience featuring videos and practical skills in class.

This new version of our famous Provide First Aid course combines our love for fun and immersive practical training, with the efficiency of video enhanced training.
With no online learning beforehand, students review real world scenarios, and complete their assessment questions using their own phones/smart devices.

The St John Ambulance first aid course covers a comprehensive range of topics to enable participants to confidently manage emergency situations and provide a first aid response to a casualty.It covers the most common first aid injuries and illnesses.

The St John Ambulance first aid course covers a comprehensive range of topics to enable participants to confidently manage emergency situations and provide a first aid response to a casualty. The course is run over 1 day, with online pre-learning beforehand

It covers the most common first aid injuries and illnesses.

  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

Participants are required to undertake online e-learning module prior to attending the face to face workshops for practice and assessment.

The St John Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course gives you the skills to perform CPR on a person who is unconscious and not breathing normally in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

This course is a course designed for experienced first-aiders who use specific equipment and often work in higher-risk environments.

This course develops advanced skills for providing life support and focuses on the use of oxygen delivery systems and in-depth knowledge and skill in the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED); as well as the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation and oxygen therapy in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy

Please note that a current certificate for Provide First Aid HLTAID011 is a prerequisite of this course.
Evidence of currency in Provide First Aid is to be provided BEFORE the course by emailing it to bookings@stjohntas.org.au.
Failure to do so will result in not being able to attend.

| 1 Day Course

White Card

The St John Ambulance first aid course covers a comprehensive range of topics to enable participants to confidently manage emergency situations and provide a first aid response to a casualty. 
It covers the most common first aid injuries and illnesses.

  • HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

An assessment-only option for those who have completed the course in the last 12 months.
As this is only assessments, NO TRAINING will be provided on the day.

It is suitable for people employed as electricians and others employed in the electrical services industry.
