Emergency First Aid

This course will provide you with the basic skills and knowledge to respond to a basic emergency first aid situation at home, work, and anywhere in between.
It will provide you with the skills to manage emergency first aid situations, including managing the unconscious casualty, performing CPR, controlling bleeding and managing other life-threatening situations. 
It is suitable for people in workplaces and members of the public who want to be able to manage an emergency first aid situation. 

What certification do you get?

This is an accredited course.
On successful completion of this course you will be issued a statement of attainment in:

  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support

St John recommends, as per the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice and the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, that first aid skills (HLTAID010) are renewed every 3 years and resuscitation skills (HLTAID009) are renewed every 12 months.

• Infection control
• Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) 
• Defibrillation 
• Wounds and bleeding
• An unconscious breathing person
• An unconscious non-breathing person (includes CPR and use of an AED)
• Choking 
• Chest pain
• Stroke 
• Allergic reactions and anaphylaxis
• Asthma
• Shock
