Six young St John volunteers have earned the opportunity to represent Tasmania at St John Ambulance Australia’s National Camp, NatCamp, in Perth.
They’ve trained, practised and competed to become Tasmania’s Youth State Champions. Now they’re preparing to take the next step, joining young St John volunteers from across Australia for a week of competition, learning, leadership and connection.
For our young volunteers, NatCamp is much more than a competition. It is an opportunity to put their first aid skills to the test, learn from others, build confidence and leadership skills, and be part of a national community of young people committed to helping others.
These young people are not only developing skills they can use now. They are building the confidence, knowledge and experience that could help shape Tasmania’s future health and community leaders.
The challenge of getting from Tasmania to Perth
Earning a place at NatCamp is one thing. Getting six young people and their support team from Tasmania to Western Australia is another.
Travel from Tasmania comes with a significant cost, particularly when flights, accommodation and the other expenses involved in attending a national event are taken into account.
That’s why we’re asking our St John community and supporters to help us get our State Champions to Perth.
Every contribution, whether it is buying a ticket to an event, making a donation or sharing the campaign, helps make the trip possible.
Join us for our NatCamp Trivia Night
One of the easiest, and most fun, ways to support the team is to come along to our NatCamp Trivia Night on 16 October.
Grab your friends, family or colleagues, put your knowledge to the test and enjoy a night of friendly competition, great prizes and plenty of laughs, all while helping our young volunteers on their way to Perth.
Teams: Tables of six, or join a table on the night
Food: BYO plate of food or nibbles to share
Drinks: Bar facilities will be available, with drinks available for purchase throughout the evening
There are some fantastic prizes up for grabs, including a Pennicott Wilderness Journeys Cruise valued at $380 as our major lucky door prize, as well as prizes for the winning trivia team and a raffle on the night.

They’ve earned their place. Now we can help them get there.
Our Youth volunteers give their time to learn first aid, support their communities and develop skills that can make a real difference in an emergency.
NatCamp gives them the opportunity to take those skills further, represent Tasmania and connect with other young volunteers from across the country.
We’re incredibly proud of what our State Champions have achieved already. Now we want to make sure the cost of travelling from Tasmania doesn’t stand between them and this opportunity.
