The Unofficial Sponsor of Community
This National Volunteer Week, St John Tasmania is celebrating the volunteers who quietly help keep communities across our state safer, stronger and more connected.
From youth programs and first aid education, to social support, community events and the safeguarding of our history, St John volunteers show up for Tasmania in countless ways every single day.
And often, much of that work happens quietly.
Behind the scenes. After hours. In the crowd, on the sidelines, and in the moments most people never see.
That idea sits at the heart of St John’s new “The Unofficial Sponsor Of…” campaign.
The campaign shines a light on the people, moments and community connections that may not always receive recognition, but matter deeply to the communities they support.
Whether it’s helping a young person gain confidence through first aid, supporting someone to stay connected and active in their community, helping keep local sporting events safe, or simply being there when someone needs support, volunteers play an enormous role in the fabric of Tasmanian life.
St John Tasmania’s volunteers come from all walks of life and contribute in many different ways. Some volunteer in Event Health Services, supporting community events across the state. Others help deliver education and youth programs, provide social support, preserve local history, support community groups, or simply lend a helping hand wherever it’s needed.
Together, they help create safer, more resilient and more connected communities.
St John Tasmania is proud to be part of a national network of nearly 12,000 St John volunteers supporting communities across Australia, with volunteers contributing thousands of hours of support each year.
This National Volunteer Week, St John Tasmania is encouraging the community to recognise and thank the volunteers who help make Tasmania a better place, often without ever asking for anything in return.
Because community doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because people choose to show up.
